Shipup is a mission-critical tool for online retailers, offering best-in-class post-purchase experience to millions of end customers. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the creation of our third cross-functional squad.
🛍 The role
Context
We want to tackle ambitious changes in our product in the next year, building innovative capabilities that further differentiate our value proposition and position our Product as best-in-class and most easy-to-use in the market.
We're looking to hire an Engineering Manager to lead a newly formed “Grow” Squad, focused on one of our most innovative value propositions: driving revenue for online retailers during the delivery phase.
This Squad will operate in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial fashion. You’ll need a strong product mindset, a ship-to-learn approach, and the ability to iterate quickly to uncover the best solutions.
You’ll be joining a fully staffed squad alongside two full-stack engineers, a product manager, and a full-time designer.
Missions
- You’ll lead a team of engineers building new product features from start to finish, from research and design to delivery, maintenance and polish.
- As a hands-on engineering manager, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute directly to changes enacted by the squad.
- You’ll act as a product-minded servant leader, ensuring your team delivers efficiently and sustainably in alignment with business goals, and helping your direct reports grow by providing frequent feedback and coaching.
- You’ll strive and be empowered to continuously improve the efficiency of our tech and product team by reducing friction and improving our tooling and processes.
🙌 The team
You’ll join a team of 22 (15 in engineering and 7 product people) led by Loïc (VP Engineering) and Dounia (Director of Product), divided into three cross-functional squads.
At Shipup, we enjoy working with humble teammates who seek to work collaborative and friendly environment that fosters continuous learning. Our teammates come from diverse educational backgrounds and know how to use & adapt their tools according to the challenges at hand. They care and are proud of how they work, but also why.
They enjoy contributing to the company & product activities that allow them to make an impact beyond the code itself.
Team organization
Our Tech & Product team relies on a robust framework, which balances investment in the projects that are most valuable to our customers with the technical evolutions necessary for the good health and maintainability of the product.
- Cross-functional teams following the squad philosophy: each squad has its dedicated Engineering Manager, Product Manager and Product Designer.
- Best-in-class development practices: pair-programming, continuous delivery, slack time, testing, extensive documentation...
- Quarterly roadmap executed in 2-week sprints with integrated feedback loops
- On-call process : each week, a different member of the team is in charge of application monitoring as well as customer requests and issues — a great opportunity to be closer to the end-user and collaborate with other Shipup teams.
